It’s been a little while now since I switched up my skincare routine, but as I’ve been rather poorly recently and my skin needed some extra TLC, I thought these past few weeks would be the perfect time to make my way through my to-try list and rediscover some old favourites. Here are my top Winter skincare picks:
First up is my cleansers, starting with the offerings that I reach for when I need to take off my makeup quickly. The Alpha- H Cleansing Balm is one that I’ve sadly just ran out of, but I enjoyed every ounce of it. It removes your makeup easily, whilst feeling nourishing along the way too. If I’ve got harder to remove eye makeup on then I go for the Charlotte Tilbury Take It All Off* which I got from their advent calendar – it removes like no other and I’m very impressed.
When it comes to my second cleanse, I either go for an exfoliating offering with the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate which makes my skin feel super soft or the Clinique City Block Purifying Cleanser which helps to make my complexion feel a lot cleaner.
If I go with an acid based cleanser then I always skip this next step and go with a hydrating toner instead, but the Pixi Glow Tonic is a firm favourite in my skincare routine even more so at this time of the year when my skin feels more dehydrated. It helps to get rid of dry patches and perk up my complexion too – I cannot fault it!
For moisturiser, I’ve been using one that I got towards the end of November/start of December in an advent calendar and I’ve now got the full sized version for an upcoming blog post I have coming up. It’s the Sunday Riley Tidal Cream which I’ve got to admit I wasn’t expecting to love as much as I do, but it’s a great all rounder that can easily be used underneath makeup or at night too. If used at night, I tend to layer it up with the Sunday Riley Juno Oil* which is another one that I’m testing out and so far I love it!
At this time of the year, I really rely on face masks and I have so many that I love that I’m going to be dedicating a full blog post to them all soon. One that you always hear me talking about is the Fresh Rose Face Mask, a long time favourite of mine which helps my lacklustre skin look brighter, smoother and softer.
