I’ve tried a similar product in the form of the Magnitone London WipeOut! MicoFibre Cloth, so I knew that it had to live up to that or offer something a little different. At first glance, the Face Halo is palm sized which is smaller than its competitor, but to be honest it doesn’t really make that much of difference once it comes down to using it.
When it comes to removing my makeup, the face halo is great at removing my eye makeup, but if I’m wearing a particularly heavy look I do like to use a eye makeup remover first as I find that it can tug a little on my eyelashes and eyebrow hairs. I use one side of the face halo per use, but I’ve got to admit it only gets rid of the bulk of my makeup and I definitely need to go in with a second cleanse to make sure everything is off.
Although the face halo and competitors are good ideas for those of you who are trying to use less cotton pads, there are several downfalls in my opinion. The first one has to be the smell. I’ve not seen people talk about the smell often, but it’s something that cannot be ignored. After you wet the cloth, use it on your face and set it on the side to dry to be used the next day, when you come back to it even just an hour later, it has a weird scent to it. It’s not too off putting when you’re in the middle of using it, but when you first get a whiff it isn’t pleasant. I’m not sure if it’s the outside material or the slight bit of cardboard (?!) inside that’s causing it, but in my opinion due to the amount of time it takes to get stinky, I wouldn’t put it down to the makeup products used. The other downside is along similar lines as I think it would be best if you got a few backups of the Face Halo so that you can have a wash cycle that would been you’re never left with a dirty cloth. If you only have one you can find yourself without a cloth to remove your makeup especially if you wear makeup everyday.
To sum up my review, I think that for £7 to get 200 uses out of it is really good and will save you money in the long run, but I would be interested to find out what the Face Halo does look like in 6 months time to put this claim to the test. I’ll definitely be getting my use out of it and it’s great when paired with the rest of my skincare routine just to make it that little bit easier. If you’re a fan of the classic flannel and you wanted to step up your game, then this would 100% be the product for you as you’ll definitely see a difference in how well it removes your makeup.
